Everyone Has a Story Worth Preserving.

Have you ever considered creating your chapter as part of the family legacy? Recording your own story or those of a loved one is a beautiful way to celebrate a milestone birthday or anniversary. But it doesn’t have to be tales from your youth or a recount of the wedding day.
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with someone who wanted to record her favourite recipes. Today, meals often come pre-prepared or through subscription boxes, or we turn to Google for the recipe. Yet there is no more treasured memory than helping to prepare or enjoying a favourite home-cooked meal.
As I wrote down the recipes for impossible pie, apricot chicken, and salmon patties, we reminisced about her grandmother teaching her how to make scones, a recipe that found its way into her collection. We added a memory of why she had selected these particular recipes to include. She then reached out to her daughter and was delighted (and a little surprised) by the recipes and food memories she wanted included. While rice pudding is not the most complicated recipe, the memory that her daughter has added to the recipe is priceless.
The more we talked, the more stories unfolded. Each recipe became a thread in the tapestry of their family history. I found myself thinking of my food memories, like the soggy lamb chops my mother made on cold winter nights. No matter how much I Google, I still don’t know what they were.
If you feel inspired to preserve your favourite recipes, create a recommended reading list, or capture the highlights of a life richly lived, don’t hesitate to reach out. There’s no time like the present to ensure your stories are told and remembered for generations to come.
